First Friday Social

June 1, 2018

**This is a free event open to all.**

Enjoy a fun social!

Bring your friends and meet new people from all over the world. No cover. Please join us as at this exciting venue.

If you haven’t joined us in a while, then come on out and make some new friends. Mingle with fabulous LGBTQ folk and allies. TJ Flavell will be there to greet you.

We will meet in Pinzimini Lounge at the Westin Arlington Gateway. The Lounge can be found directly across the lobby. For this event, casual business attire is encouraged. Enjoy the cash bar drinks. See the delicious happy hour menu here: http://www.pinzimini.com/menus

You are welcome regardless of where you live. If you are taking the Metro, get off on the Ballston stop which is two blocks from the Westin Hotel. The South Elevator exit is best. If you are driving, street parking is free after 6 p.m. and paid parking is available at the Hotel and nearby Ballston Mall ($1 parking for up to 3 hours. Or park for free on the street). If you use Valet Parking at the Hotel and purchase a drink at Pinzimini, have the manager sign off on your valet card for complimentary parking.

This social is hosted by NOVA Gay and Lesbian Professionals (http://www.meetup.com/novaglp/). A variety of LGBTQ professionals and allies from all over the DC area will be attending.

In addition, as ongoing community service, if you can, please bring along a canned good for Arlington Food Assistance Center (http://www.afac.org/). This event will serve as a convenient collection point.

See you there!!

Capital Pride Festival

June 10, 2018

Be sure to stop by the AGLA booth at the Capital Pride Festival on Sunday, June 11 from Noon – 6 p.m. If you would like to volunteer at the booth, simply email info@agla.org with your preferred time frame. It’s a great way to meet other members and help out. More information about AGLA is at http://new.agla.org/

The annual Capital Pride Festival will once again take place on historic Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, in front of our national capitol. Over 200,000 people will come to this event.

Come for a day full of entertainment, music, food, drink, education, and celebration. The festival is open to everyone, and while a $5 donation is encouraged, there is no fee for entry. The festival is family friendly, however due to large crowds and very hot asphalt, we recommend that 4-legged family members (pets) stay at home.

AGLA Brunch

June 16, 2018

Once again we will gather monthly on the 3rd Saturday of the month. Freddie has graciously reserved one side of the patio for us. Brunch takes place from 11am to 1pm. When you arrive, simply ask to be directed to the AGLA delegation. AGLA Board members will be glad to introduce you to others. No reservation required. Just arrive when you can.

Freddie’s Saturday brunch is quite the deal and very delicious. All you can eat breakfast buffet, including made to order omelettes and Belgian waffles, with coffee, soda or juice for only $9.99. Not a breakfast food person, you can always order off the regular menu.

All are welcome to join us regardless of where your reside or whether or not you are an AGLA member. Bring a friend, enjoy the great food and drink, meet new people, and catch up with old friends you have not seen in a while.

In addition, as ongoing community service, if you can, please bring along travel-sized unused soaps, shampoos, lotions, etc. for A-SPAN (www.a-span.org), which provides life-sustaining services for street homeless. Or clean out your cupboard of unused nonperishable food items for AFAC, the community leader in providing and promoting dignified access to nutritious food for those in need. (http://www.afac.org/) . This event will serve as a convenient collection point.

Crystal City Metro is the closest Metro stop. When you arrive and exit the fare card reader, go up the first escalator and enter the glass doors on your left. Walk through the underground shops to 23rd St, turn right and cross Eads and walk about a block up. Freddie’s is on the right. Map. http://www.freddiesbeachbar.com/map_directions.htm
