Women’s Wednesdays

AGLA enriches the quality of life of all its members, including women. The Chamber, The Capital Area’s LGBT Chamber of Commerce hosts monthly Women’s Wednesdays.

Women's Wednesday

Women’s Wednesdays are networking evenings especially for women entrepreneurs and professionals on the 3rd Wednesday of every month.

At these events you’ll meet leaders in the business community, learn about causes that are related to women’s issues and join business owners who will share their success stories. This event typically sees attendance at 50 – 60 people. Most attendees are women but men are also welcome. Please note that although there is a nominal event fee, it is well worth it. More >>

Organize Your Own Women’s Event!

If you would like to coordinate an event for women, such as an informal restaurant outing or brunch, simply email info@agla.org with a note outlining what you have in mind. Chances are good you’ll be empowered to make it a reality.

There’s a good example of an activity: In 2001, AGLA launched Words by Women, a literary program aimed at bringing writers and poets to the county. The first program featured lesbian author Minnie Bruce Pratt, and local poet Valerie Jean. With its focus on works about lesbian women and women of color, WbW branched out in 2003 as a stand-alone organization.
